Cornelis Bogardus was baptized in New Amsterdam Reformed Dutch Church on September 9, 1640, and died in Beverwyck, New York (now Albany), before May 6, 1666. He married Helen Teller, a daughter of William Teller of Albany. They resided in Albany. His personal estate was sold by public vendue in the same year, and the proceeds amounted to 2015 guilders, a large sum for the time. He was a gunsmith. He left one son:

His descendants were the first contestants for a portion of the grant of Trinity Church.
